How to play Hangman
Pick a category, Animals, Countries, Food, Sports or Objects, or leave it on Random. The hidden word appears as blanks with its category above. Guess one letter at a time by typing it or tapping the on-screen keyboard. Correct letters fill every place they appear; wrong ones add a part to the stick figure.
Six wrong guesses complete the figure, which ends the round and reveals the word. Fill in the whole word first to win. A solved word scores 100 points, minus 10 per wrong guess, plus 5 per letter, so long words solved cleanly score the most. Points add up to a running total across rounds, and your wins are counted too.
Tips
- ▸Start with vowels. E, A and O are in most words, and even a miss tells you a lot.
- ▸Then try common consonants like R, S, T, N and L before rare ones like J, Q, X or Z.
- ▸Use the category. Knowing it's a country or a sport narrows things down fast.
- ▸Each wrong guess costs 10 points, so think of possible words before trying a risky letter.
