How to play Whack-a-Mole
Moles pop up from nine holes in a three-by-three grid. Click or tap a mole before it ducks back down, or press the number keys 1 to 9, laid out like a keypad with 7, 8 and 9 as the top row. You have 60 seconds, and as time passes the moles appear more often and stay up for less time.
A brown mole is worth 10 points and a golden mole 50. After the first few seconds, bombs appear too. Hitting one costs 30 points and one of your three hearts, and losing all three ends the game early. Hit five moles in a row to double your points, ten in a row to triple them, and so on.
Tips
- ▸Go for golden moles first. They are worth five times as much but disappear sooner than brown ones.
- ▸Hitting an empty hole or letting a mole escape resets your combo, so pick your targets instead of tapping wildly.
- ▸Bombs have a lit fuse and a red exclamation mark. Leave them alone and they sink back down without costing you anything.
- ▸On a keyboard, rest your hand on the number pad. Its keys match the holes exactly.
