How to play Math Blitz

Math Blitz is a sixty-second mental arithmetic sprint. Press Start, Enter or Space and a sum appears. Type the answer and press Enter, or tap one of four choices. A correct answer adds two seconds to the clock, up to the full sixty; a wrong one takes three seconds away and shows the right answer.

Correct answers in a row build a streak, and every five in a row raises the points per answer: 10 at first, 20 from the fifth, 30 from the tenth. Questions get harder with your streak, moving from addition and subtraction to times tables, three-digit sums and division. A wrong answer resets the streak and the difficulty. The round ends when the timer reaches zero.

Tips

  • ▸Protect your streak. A wrong answer costs three seconds and resets your multiplier, so a careful answer beats a fast guess.
  • ▸Check the last digit before you tap. The wrong choices are near misses, usually a few away from the answer or exactly ten out.
  • ▸On a computer, typing is quicker than the mouse; any number key jumps into the answer box.
  • ▸From a streak of five you'll see times tables up to 12 × 12, so knowing them by heart keeps the 20-point answers coming.

Math Blitz FAQ

What kind of questions are in Math Blitz?
Addition and subtraction with numbers up to 99, then times tables. Long streaks bring three-digit sums, larger multiplications and division with whole-number answers.
Can a round last longer than a minute?
Yes. The clock never holds more than sixty seconds, but each correct answer tops it up by two, so a long streak keeps you playing well past a minute.
Is Math Blitz suitable for children?
It suits confident children who know their number bonds and times tables, as even the first questions use two-digit numbers.
